Workshop: LIFT 2027

Quantum computing has reached an inflection point. While today’s noisy intermediate-scale quantum (NISQ) devices have demonstrated remarkable capabilities, the path to practical, large-scale quantum computation requires a decisive transition to the fault-tolerant regime. Achieving this demands not only advances in quantum error correction (QEC) theory and hardware engineering, but also a deep integration of insights from quantum algorithms, optimal control, and novel qubit architectures.

In this workshop we aim to bring together an international group of scientists — spanning academia and industry — to discuss the most pressing challenges and recent advances on the road to fault-tolerant quantum computing. Topics of focus will include quantum error correction codes and decoders, magic state preparation and distillation, modular and scalable qubit architectures, tunable couplers, Hamiltonian learning, error mitigation, and fault-tolerant algorithms and resource estimation.
